Hot Dog Stands
Hot dog stands in America are an icon of culture and charm. They are democratic places with food that defies class or status. Everyone eats hot dogs, whether it is at a picnic, ballpark, or on the fly. Most people have their favorite stand or cart, and it is usually a treat to eat there. I am interested in the unique qualities of the places themselves, which are not bland corporate entities, but rather reflections of individual owners. My favorite places are colorfully painted, with quirky signs and names. I have spent years documenting these iconic hold-outs of naïve charm.
